From the horse's mouth...
If anyone is under the impression that the dairy industry and the beef industry are separate entities, then it may be worthwhile to take a look at this website by the dairy industry.

There are so many directions that you could go with this. There are alternative vegan "turkey" products like Tofurkey and The Unturkey. Those are okay, but I don't know how much you'll be into them. My personal recommendation would be to pick up a good vegan cookbook. There are so many now that it's hard to say which one you might like best. Joanne Stepaniak has some good ones. I would say have a nice main dish (could be anything from one of those vegan "turkey" things to a nice stirfry or tempeh/tofu dish) along with some salad with a tasty vegan dressing, maybe some pasta with a yummy sauce, any of various veggies like some steamed broccoli with a "cheez" sauce, mashed sweet potatoes, or any of other various side dishes. Also vegan pumpkin pie is nice and rather easy to make! These are just ideas off the top of my head. Definitely look at some vegan cookbooks though. What were your ideas? :O)

i'll deff. look into some cookbooks...its kind of hard when your parents are meat eating assholes...

i've grown up eating meat *not like i really had a choice* but its not soo easy giving up food...since i work at a place that sells million of flipping burgers a day *and yes im ashamed of working there* but how did you adjust to the change? someone told me to give up something each week until you can give up your "cravings" and whatnot...not to mention having parents who think your "joking"...so basically how did you adjust to the change?

I hear you. Give them time. They will probably come around once you show them that you're serious about it. My family gave me a hard time at first, but I made sure to not take any shit from them.

I realize that different people take different approaches depending on what is more effective for them. For me, my changes would take place rather instantly. The most important thing to me was that I didn't want to eat a dead animal, so I actually learned to associate the image (in my mind) of an animal suffering with meat. If I saw pork, I thought of a pig being slaughtered, etc. It may seem extreme, but for me it was quite effective. If you think of meat as it really is and how it got to you, then you are likely to have an easier time. I used to work at grocery stores and was always bothered by selling meat. The worst was when they brought a live creature that they were going to kill (like crabs or a lobster). Eventually I found it difficult to do anymore. Some people are able to do it, but I found that I had to stop working that type of job after doing that for a few years. That may not be an option for you. If it makes it difficult working there for you, then I would suggest looking for employment elsewhere. You might actually find that it makes you more committed to veganism as you see people stuffing their faces with animal carcasses.

I'm always willing to help if you need any more ideas or have challenges that you're facing. :O)

Yeah, animal products are in the most unexpected of places. I'm rarely surprised at this point, but it has gotten better over the years with more vegan products being available.

Good luck finding a new job! :O) And I'm always happy to help. Those people who bitch at you aren't considering how challenging the fast food environment must be for you. Obviously that's not your first choice, and you won't be there forever. :o)

A vegan said that to you?!! That's crazy!! You have made a very MATURE decision, and I think that says something about you.

About soymilks, I didn't like the first kind that I tried, but I tried different ones and found some really good ones. Silk is a really good soymilk, and so is Vitasoy. Keep checking around....anyway, keep me posted, and I'll continue helping in any way I can. :O)

I think that it depends with the B12, some are chewable. Others are sublingual and have to be held under your tongue to be absorbed. I use a liquid B12 that I keep under my tongue for 30 secs....I always run into new stuff. I'll let ya know...
