I am rereading the Kerouac books that I have read and also reading what I haven't....
The last time I read On the Road by Kerouac I was 13. Yikes, I just realized that was 20 years ago....anyway, I'm getting back into it and enjoying it very much....also looking forward to getting into the book Kerouac wrote before On the Road called The Town and the City......

Yes, you do....it's really awesome. It's amazing how much the Beat Generation influenced modern culture. Did you know that On the Road was written as one paragraph on a long ass scroll?

No rush, sweetie :c)
With my work schedule, I can only check my mail once or twice a week. The post office is air conditioned, though, so things should be safe, weeeeee!

I'm reading the Subterraneans now.

You're so sweet and understanding! :O)

Is the fact that you're also reading Kerouac a coincidence? How is the book? The Subterraneans is one that I haven't yet read, but I am planning on reading all his books that I haven't read and rereading the ones that I have over the next couple of months. I am finding that my appreciation for Kerouac has grown, and my understanding of him has changed. Most of this has to do with the fact that I have experienced more of life now.

Yes, a coincidence. I never made it far in that book though... He's hard for me to read. My reading time is usually only 20 minutes once or twice a week before work. And while that may be a perfectly fine way to finish a King novel, it doesn't work well for kerouac.

You're right....Kerouac is best read in as few sittings as possible. Usually a couple of days of reading for hours on end works best! It doesn't sound like you can afford to that, and unfortunately neither can I anymore. :(
